EVie's Electric Car Information Section
Hi I’m Evie
I really want to become more environmental; I have been looking at Electric Cars for a while now in my attempt to become greener.
Its very confusing and I don’t really know where to start.
Follow me on my journey to buying my first electric car and EV charger for home.
Hopefully, we can do this together.
Go to www.e-v-warehouse.com to see what I have found out so far.
Should I buy a tethered or untethered ev charger?
A socketed charge point comes without a cable and is essentially a dedicated charging station, fitted with the necessary safety devices to protect you, your car, and your home’s main fuse board. Socketed chargers are universal, because any electric car with a fast charging cable, can be used with the charger.
A Tethered charge point comes with a long cable attached to the unit, it’s available with either a Type 1 or Type 2 cable and you’ll need to make sure you get the right type to fit your car’s charging inlet.

The CCS plug is best suited to rapid charging. It builds on the Type 2 design, albeit with added connections on the bottom of the plug. CCS connectors are most common on German car models, being used by BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen, but they are also spreading to other manufacturers that sell cars in Europe.
